APA - which stands for American Psychological Association - is the format style that is used in SOWELA's nursing program and also in many of the behavioral and social sciences, such as criminal justice. APA style is currently in the 7th edition.

Here are a few reasons why you need to have citations in your college writing:
Plagiarism is the act of presenting ideas, expressions, or information created by others as one's own. It is a form of academic dishonesty and is considered a violation of SOWELA's Academic Integrity policy which can be found in the student handbook. Plagiarism, cheating, and other violations of this policy will result in a grade of 0% for the assignment. Students may also receive an "F" for the course and be dismissed from the college.
Using citations can help avoid plagiarism.
