Overview

Suffrage is the right to vote in political elections. The movement that fought for the right for women to vote is known as the suffragist movement. This has been tied to universal suffrage, otherwise known as the right for everyone to vote despite race or gender.

The Nineteenth Amendment granted women in the United States the right to vote in the summer of 1920. This means that the summer of 2020 is the centennial celebration of women's suffrage.
