Searching the Catalog

Search the catalog for books.

  1. Use the "Catalog" tab to limit your search for books and eBooks. ("Quick Search" will search the catalog and all of the databases.)
    The "Catalog" and "Quick Search" tabs are above the search bar.
  2. When you find a book in the catalog click on the title. A new window will open and you will find the Library of Congress call number at the bottom.
    The call number is in two places in the new window.
  3. Find the book on the shelf with the matching call number.
    The call number is on the bottom of the book's spine.

Library of Congress

The SOWELA Library uses the Library of Congress to organize the books on the shelves. The Library of Congress classification system is arranged alphabetically and numerically.
