Library Orientation for Instructors

This guide will include useful information for SOWELA instructors about the services and resources that the library can provide, including info on library instruction, research guides, webinars, and copyright.

Information Literacy

The SOWELA Library offers information literacy instruction for face-to-face and online classes. These instructional sessions will help students

  • Understand the research process
  • Use the best search tools and techniques for their research
  • Learn to evaluate information sources
  • Understand how information is used and valued

 

Face-to-Face Instruction

Face-to-face instruction sessions can be scheduled by contacting the Reference & Instruction Librarian. In your request, please tell us

  • Your preferred date & time of instruction
  • The number of students in the class
  • Details about the assignment this session will support
  • Your class’s writing style (MLA, APA, etc.)

Sessions are scheduled based on availability. Information literacy sessions must be scheduled at least 3 days in advance.

Online Instruction

The library can also support online classes with videos and research guides. Videos can be embedded in Canvas. Access your VidGrid account to see the full list of library videos.
